Salem College US

Salem College is a one the oldest and most popular private institution that was founded in 1772 located in Winston Salem, North Carolina of USA. It is recognized as a women college and has an interesting history. It is one of the oldest colleges devoted for women education. It is now recognized as a private liberal arts college.

Brief History of Construction & Development

Originally constructed in 1785 single sister house is the oldest building of Salem campus. It is one of the oldest buildings in the United State of America, which is dedicated towards women education. In 2005 reconstruction work was started of single sister house. In the occasion of 235^th anniversary of the Salem on 22th April 2007 re-opening ceremony was conducted. There are feature on Salem House after it's renovation including graffiti covered by plaster and many over beautiful creation. The renovation was based on children's book 'Sister Maus' written by Professor John Hutton. Salem Campus covers 57 acres of land.

Academic Environment

This college has a total undergraduate enrollment of 945. Although this college is recognized as Women College but 4.3 percent male student are also included in this college. 56 percent of the students live in college owned housing and rest of the student live off campus.

Salem College has 4-1-4 based academic calendar and offers various course including Bachelor of Science (B.S), Bachelor of Music (B.M), Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Master of Education (M. Ed) and Master of Arts in teaching (M.A.T).

This college has cross-registration relationship with Wake Forest University. In Wake Forest's Roynolda Campus undergraduates from Salem College can take classes. Similarly undergraduates from wake forest may enroll in Salem college course when required classes are not available to them at Wake Forest.

Athletics

Salem College is a part of NCAA-III athletic conference Salem College is known forint's athleticism Salem basketball team won the regional championship in February 2007. Similarly college won basketball Tournament in 2013. Regional championship was won by soccer team in 2008.
